Why am I doing this?

20 Day Fast
I guess one of the most relevant questions is “why am I doing this 20 day fast?”
I am doing this fast to lose weight and as a personal challenge. And honestly, I was eating and drinking too much through COVID. I lost 50 pound in 2019. I did an OK job of keeping off the weight, but when COVID started I ate because there wasn’t a lot to do that was enjoyable and I drank because there wasn’t a lot to do that was enjoyable.
A second logical question is “why am I journaling this in a blog?”
To me, this is a more relevant question as everyone has their own motivations.
I am journaling this in a blog because while there is a ton of information on intermittent fasting and some information on long-term fasting, I didn’t find a lot of specifics on how to start, “feelings” during, or even what to do when coming off a long-term fast.
Of note, I may never provide my real weight during this process. While I said that I am doing this to lose weight, a larger part of the process is how I feel and subtle things, like how do clothes fit. When I did the 50 pound weight loss before, I actually felt “healthier” at 220 pounds than I did at 206 (and when I had a “four pack”).
Finally, if I am doing this to get “healthier” is a 20 day fast really the way to go? Probably not. But I also probably weighed 250 pounds at the start of this and that’s not healthy either. I have a lot of excess fuel available for my body. My ego tells me that I am good at self-monitoring. If I think that my health is trending toward bad, then I can stop or call a doctor.
I am not a doctor or health professional. All information in this and subsequent posts are an opinion and not an express or implied endorsement of products or behavior.
